September is Cat Health Month, so all across the Twitter-verse people will be reminding your people to take you cats to the vet for a check-up.
Now, the vet is not a fun place - and it's even worse when you're blind like me. It's bad enough to see the other cats and dogs in the waiting room, smell the cleaner, and have all the noise and confusion...it's worse when you can't see what's coming at you and you have to place your trust entirely in your people. With all these other strange cats and dogs around, you got to remember to keep your cool.
Look confident. Even if you don't feel too confident, if you look like you are, it is less likely you'll get picked on. Fluff yourself up to make yourself look bigger. Try not to make yourself look as small as possible and jam yourself in the corner of the cat-carrier.
Purr. It's always calming to purr, and it makes your people relax. Nothing is worse than when your people are nervous - they don't know it, but we cats pick up on their emotions. If they are nervous, then it makes us feel like we should be scared, too! So to calm them down, purr. It makes them think you're all cool and stuff.
Cooperate with the Vet. If you struggle, you'll be there longer. The goal is to get in and get out and get home as quickly as possible. If you sit still and let the vet do his thing, you'll be done and out in record time. The added bonus is hearing about what a good kitty you are and even scoring a treat when you get home!
I've never had a really bad Vet experience, but I'm sure some of you cats have. Comment below and tell me your story!
