Today is the first day in a long time that we don't need the air on and can have the windows open. When I could see, I loved to sit in the window! The fresh air, the warm sun..and a window sill just big enough for a cat to stretch out on. Naturally I always had to compete with Boo for the spot, but since there are two windows, I'd let him pick his first then take the second one.
This is my first summer blind, and it's been so hot that the family had the air conditioner a lot. But this morning I finished Good Breakfast and walked into the living room and felt the cool breeze and smelled the outside. I knew the window was open, so I navigated there to investigate.
I was a little unsure if I could jump right up. I wasn't sure how far up the window sash was - I was worried that I might hit my back or bump into the screen and fall out of the window. Falling is scary when you can't see, so I like to make sure I've got steady ground. Seeing my distress, Gram came over and helped me carefully into the window. She gave me a reassuring back pat to let me know it was OK. So I explored my space to see how far up and how wide my area was. Once I figured that out, I laid down in the window and enjoyed the breeze.
It was so nice to feel the air on my fur, and to smell the grass, and listen to all the outside sounds. I haven't been outside since I was abandoned so long ago and while it's a nice place to visit (even if you visit it from a window!) I wouldn't want to live there again!!
Gram kept a close watch on me, and when I was ready to get down, she helped me by patting the floor so I could hear how far down it was. I leaped down safely. That was a lot of fun, and I think I might be able to learn how to get in the window all by myself. It'll take some work, but it's worth it! Gram took some pictures!
